EBUTA PNG AgriFarm 2023

About FarmFarm Livestock, Downstream & Benefits

The summary of the Ebuta PNG AgriFarm (EPNGAF) livestock operations is structured across three stages: its current footing, its ambitious commercial upgrade plan, and the resulting broad outcomes for local communities, the country, and international markets.

I. Current Stage: Foundational Operations and Organic Production

EPNGAF currently operates as a commercial entity in the farming and agriculture sector, focusing on integrated and organic production methods.
Current Inventory and Products
EPNGAF produces a variety of livestock, milk, milk products, eggs, and engages in beekeeping. Current organic outputs include:

Meat and Livestock: Fresh Goat Meat, Awesome Turkey, Premium Beef, Gooses & Rosters, and Live Pigs and Pork meats. They also sell live animals per kilo.

Dairy and Eggs: Quality Milk and Cheese from Cow and Goats, Elite Duck’s Eggs, and Goat Chesse.

Specialties: Rainbow Trout.
Operational Methods
The farm uses a principle of integration of farming operations and employs the native technique to grow and feed their livestock.

Eco-Farming: Crop remains feed animals, manure from cattle and poultry constitutes farmyard manure to maintain soil fertility, and pig droppings are used to provide biogas. Animal wastes are converted into fertilizer and composted for feeds, vegetables, fish feed, and fruit growing.

Biosecurity: EPNGAF enforces strict policies and processes for employees and visitors, such as sanitization, full body cover, and the prohibition of food or drink inside the Pig Shed, to keep pigs healthy and safe from diseases like African Swine Flu.

II. Improvement Stage: Commercial Upgrade and Importing Superior Genetics

The farm is currently in an improvement state, seeking support funds to upgrade to a full commercial standard within 12 months. This requires a funding of few millions.
Strategic Expansion Targets
The expansion plan involves populating their 200 hectares of land with large quantities of improved animals:

Pigs, Poultry, and Fish: 100 pigs, 3,000 chickens, 500 turkeys, 100 ducks, 50 Queen Bees, and 5,000 Rainbow trout fingerlings.

• Cattle and Goats: 50 cows, 200 Meat goats, and 50 Milking Goats.
Animal Import Program
EPNGAF plans to import superior breeds that are not available in PNG, leveraging the experience of Farm Manager James Yalo from North Queensland, Australia.

The planned imports include:

• Meat Goats: Boar, Canaan and Red Kalahari Goats.

Milking Goats: Saanen Goats (also used for meat).

Red Kalahari and Boar Goats: Red Kalahari and Boar Goats are best meat in tha market. The best meat demand in Middle east countries and even PNG need Goat Meats.

• Poultry: Guineafowls and Turkeys for meat and egg production. Infrastructure and Processing Development Crucial investments are dedicated to industrializing operations:

• Piggery: Constructing a 1000 Place Fully Slatted Ventilated Finishing Piggery Shed (Nominally 16.28m x 48.42m), complete with automatic feeding/watering and waste management systems.

Electrification: Implementing a Mini-Hydro system (200KW), a Solar system setup (16KW), and a Standby generator (35KVA) to ensure consistent power for the entire farm, processing, and storage areas.

• Processing: Installing a Cool Room and Freezer system for all meat productions.

III. Downstream Process and Benefits

Summary:

The EPNGAF Livestock Farm’s downstream process involves value-adding activities that transform raw agricultural products into marketable goods, creating additional revenue streams. By enhancing the quality and diversity of products, EPNGAF contributes to the economic development of communities, neighbors, districts, provinces, and the country as a whole.
